The Detroit Jazz Tradition - Alive and Well!
Format: LP
Condition: Used Like New
Price:
$49.99
Recorded in 1984, this album features some of the fine Detroit stalwarts of the era, joined by a Canadian hall-of-fame bassist. Former Aretha Franklin pianist Claude Black is the nominal leader with master drummer J.C. Heard (Armstrong, Goodman, Ellington, Herman, Gillespie alumnus) a tower of strength when combined with super-professional Dave Young on bass. George Benson (the saxist, not the guitarist!) is the principal soloist with tons of ideas. A rare recording of superior quality.
