Ernest Ranglin
Born and bred in Jamaica, Ernest Ranglin is an unlikely but extremely adept jazz guitarist, in addition to (arguably) being the inventor of the Ska sound. Largely self-taught, Ranglin has a bio that ranges from Island recording studios to the world's concert halls. At 91, he is still active and still admired by guitar aficianados everywhere for his foundation rhythmic figures, his touring with Jimmy Cliff and his sophisticated work with world-class jazzers like Monty Alexander.
