Lennie Niehaus
One of the foremost proponents of the West Coast jazz style in the 1950s, Lennie Niehaus was an alto saxophonist, composer and arranger. His career spanned seven complete decades, starting with five years with Stan Kenton's orchestra as soloist and arranger. By the 1960s, he was writing for top level performers like Mel Torme, Dean Martin and Carol Burnett. After working in Los Angeles TV and Movie studios, he reconnected with an old army buddy, Clint Eastwood - and began scoring a series of major Eastwood films. Niehaus lived to 90, spending his later years orchestrating and arranging... and playing jazz around L.A.
