Vladimir Horowitz

One of the foremost pianists of his era, Vladimir Horowitz was a virtuoso whose career spanned seven decades.  Born in Kiev, he eventually settled in the United States, becoming a citizen in 1944.  Winner of numerous Grammy awards, Horowitz was recipient of the United States Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1986.  Although sporadically sidelined with bouts of depression, he delighted audiences around the world with his brilliant musicianship and left a lasting legacy of recorded work.
