Leonard Bernstein

One of the great conductors of the 20th century, Leonard Bernstein exerted an influence that was felt across the music world.  His "West Side Story" gave notice to audiences everywhere that things had changed - for good! His "Young People's Concerts" with the New York Philharmonic introduced the next generation of musicians and listeners to the instruments of the orchestra and laid the groundwork for their perceptions of music from Early to Baroque to Classical to Romantic and beyond.
