Anton Bruckner

Anton Bruckner (1824 - 1896) was an Austrian composer of numerouis highly original and monumental symphonies. He was also an organist and teacher who composed extensive sacred and secular choral music.  At heart a humble country organist, Bruckner was described by Hans von Bulow as "half genius, half simpleton".  In modern times, the "genius" component has taken precedence.
