Lenny Breau

LennyBreau

The ultimate guitarist's guitarist, Lennie Breau was the son of itinerant francophone country musicians Harold Breau and Betty Cody. They settled in Winnipeg in the late 1950s where Lennie mixed with local jazz musicians and developed a style of playing that incorporated country, jazz, classical and ethnic influences. His mercurial career from that point took him to Toronto, Nashville, New York and Los Angeles - often impeded by drug addiction, but always developing musically. He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1997, 13 years after his death. Danny Gatton's assessment: "He was the best that ever lived."
